About
Every two years, the School of Mathematics and Statistics holds a free oneday fair at the University of Melbourne. Students in years 11 and 12 and their teachers are invited to participate in a series of competitions, talks and workshops.
Real World Maths in Action aims to:
Promote the importance and broad applications of mathematics and problemsolving skills
Raise awareness of career opportunities for mathematics and statistics graduates.
All participants attend the Mathematicians Exposed talks in the morning and afternoon sessions.
In the middle session, students choose to participate in either the Mathematics in Industry and Technology Challenge or a Short ProblemSolving Competition.
