Exchange moves and nonconjugate braid representatives of links
Seminar/Forum
We prove that under fairly general conditions an iterated exchange move gives infinitely many nonconjugate braid representatives of links. As a consequence, every knot has infinitely many conjugacy classes of nbraid representatives if and only if it has one admitting an exchange move. We discuss a project to give some fairly general conditions on the linking numbers of a link, so that it has infinitely many conjugacy classes of nbraid representatives if and only if it has one admitting an exchange move.
