While critical systems above the upper critical dimension exhibit simple mean-field behaviour in the thermodynamic limit, their finite-size scaling behaviour is surprisingly subtle and the subject of long-standing debate. In this talk, I will try to address a number of these debates by introducing a simple model that can be analysed rigorously. This is joint work with Zongzheng Zhou, Jens Grimm and Youjin Deng.
