School of Mathematics and Statistics’ Student Awards

On Thursday 26 April, The School of Mathematics and Statistics’ Student Awards was held at the Open Stage.

In the presence of many families, friends and staff, it was a special event to celebrate the outstanding achievements of the 2017 prize-winners.

The event was also a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the foundations of the Awards themselves and the generous donors who made these prizes possible in the School’s history.

William Stewart, representing the student body, concluded the proceedings, stating: I was drawn to mathematics and physics because they continuously challenged my thinking. The most difficult subjects I’ve done have also been the most rewarding. In these subjects I was really pushed to think about a new type of problem or a new frame work of thinking. Thank you to all the academics and staff in the maths department, on behalf of all the students we greatly appreciate the effort you put into our experience of mathematics.
