CHOOSEMATHS 2019

On Friday 7 June 2019, The University of Melbourne worked alongside The Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute (AMSI) to empower female students in Years 9 and 10 to pursue careers in mathematics through the CHOOSEMATHS event.

As mathematics is essential to a growing number of jobs, it is critical we foster understanding of the value and impact of mathematics and equip students to embrace these opportunities now and into the future.

The day was a great success as we welcomed enthusiastic students from 9 different schools from around Victoria. Their teachers provided our School with very positive feedback, indicating that the students enjoyed seeing the University and taking part in the workshops, seminars and Q&A panel.

We would like to thank everyone involved in making the day a great success: Julia Collins, Cristina Aponte, Susan Wei, Marcy Robertson, Anita Ponsaing, Sarah Belet, Hilary Hunt, Thomas Wong, Rheanna Mainzer, Anna Rodway, Hayley Ellul and Antoinette Tordesillas.
